Harper Lee was a novelist from the United States of America. Alabama-born Lee started her literary career in the 1960s and kept writing novels for over five long decades. She mainly wrote fiction. The novelist is best known for her 1960 published novel To Kill a Mockingbird. Over a million copies of the book were sold by 1970. It was named the best book of the 20th century by the Library Journal.

Nelle Harper Lee was born on April 28, 1926. She attended the University of Alabama where she studied law but couldn't complete the degree. After working as a ticketing agent for a while she started working on her first novel that later made history. Another novel of her Go Set a Watchman was published in 2015 though it was written before To Kill a Mockingbird was published.
